On.setron-Denk 4 mg ODT belongs to a group of medicines called 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. They are able to block the effect of a chemical substance called serotonin which can cause nausea and vomiting.

On.setron-Denk 4 mg ODT is used to:

  • treat nausea and vomiting caused by cytostatic agents (medicines used in cancer treatment) or radiotherapy.

What On.setron-Denk 4 mg ODT contains:

  • The active substance is ondansetron. Each orodispersible tablet contains 4 mg ondansetron.
  • The other ingredients are: mannitol, sorbitol, crospovidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, aspartame, strawberry flavouring, sodium stearyl fumarate, magnesium stearate [vegetable].

Possible side effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Severe allergic reactions

These side effects are rarely observed in patients taking ondansetron. The signs may include:

  • skin rash – red spots or lumps under your skin (hives)
  • swelling, sometimes of face and mouth (angioedema) which may cause difficulties in breathing
  • collapse

doctor or pharmacist immediately. Stop taking On.setron-Denk 4 mg ODT.

Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 patients)

  • headache

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 patients)

  • a feeling of warmth or sudden reddening of skin with sensation of heat (flushing)
  • constipation

Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 patients)

  • seizures
  • movement disorders or spasms (including extrapyramidal reactions, such as muscle tone disorders, acute impairment of eye movements (oculogyric crisis) with gaze deviation and motor disturbances); however, these were shown not to have any permanent clinical consequences
  • chest pain (with or without ST-segment depression on the ECG)
  • uneven or slow heart beat (heart rhythm disorders, bradycardia)
  • low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • hiccups
  • increase of liver enzymes

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 patients)

  • severe allergic reactions
  • uneven heart beat (QT prolongation including Torsade des Pointes which might cause a sudden loss of consciousness)
  • temporary eyesight problems (e.g. blurred vision), particularly after intravenous administration
  • feeling dizzy or light headed (particularly after rapid intravenous administration)

Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 patients)

  • skin rashes or redness, which may develop into severe skin reactions including widespread rash with blisters and peeling skin (toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • transitory blindness (particularly after intravenous administration)

Children and adolescents

The observed side effects in children and adolescence have been comparable to those in adults.
