What Toras-Denk 5 contains:
1 tablet contains 5 mg torasemide.
Possible side effects:
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Known adverse drug reactions of torasemide or other loop diuretics are listed in the following. The frequencies of adverse drug reactions are ranked according to the following:
Very common: May affect more than 1 in 10 patients treated
Common: May affect up to 1 in 10 patients treated
Uncommon: May affect up to 1 in 100 patients treated
Rare: May affect up to 1 in 1,000 patients treated
Very rare: May affect up to 1 in 10,000 patients treated
Not known: Frequency cannot be estimated on the basis of the available data
Blood and lymphatic system disorders
Very rare: Reduction in red and white blood cells and platelets (reduction in erythrocytes, leukocytes and platelets).
Immune system disorders
Very rare: Allergic reactions, such as itchiness (pruritus), skin rashes (exanthema), sensitivity to light (photosensitivity), severe skin reactions (e.g. Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis).
Metabolism and nutrition disorders
Common: Disturbance in the body’s acid-base balance (metabolic alkalosis). Potassium deficiency (hypokalaemia)
if a low potassium diet is being taken, in cases of vomiting, diarrhoea, excessive use of laxatives as well as in patients with chronic liver dysfunction. Depending on the dosage and duration of treatment, there may be disturbances of salt and water balance, particularly volume depletion (hypovolaemia), potassium and/ or sodium deficiency (hypokalaemia and/or hyponatraemia).
Nervous system disorders
Common: Headache, dizziness
Uncommon: Feeling of numbness and coldness in the limbs (paraesthesia).
Not known: Cerebral hypoperfusion, confusion
Eye disorders
Very rare: Visual impairment.
Ear and labyrinth disorders
Very rare: Noise in the ear (tinnitus), hearing loss.
Cardiac disorders
Very rare: A fall in blood pressure (hypotension) as well as circulatory disturbances and cardiac hypoperfusion may occur due to haemoconcentration. These in turn may cause arrhythmias, tight pain in the chest (angina pectoris), acute heart attack or sudden loss of consciousness (syncope).
Vascular disorders
Very rare: Thromboembolic complications due to haemoconcentration.
Gastrointestinal disorders
Common: Gastrointestinal complaints (e.g. reduced appetite, stomach ache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation) particularly at the beginning of treatment.

Musculoskeletal and connective tissue
disorders
Common: Muscle cramps (particularly at the commencement of treatment).
Renal and urinary disorders
